In his travels, Robert has carried sketchbooks, now numbering over 60, that he has filled with images from which he creates his prints. His most recent series depict scenes from Egypt; in particular, from his visits to the Red Sea town of El Arish and the Bedouin market. His printmaking has captured the spirit of place and people with a style incorporating economy of line and movement.

Robert has exhibited internationally during his printmaking career. His most recent exhibitions have been in Cairo at the Netherlands Dutch Institute; the USIS in Alexandria and at Cairo American College.

Now living in Phoenix, Arizona, Mr. Gutowski works daily in his studio.
