Fernando Garcia Ponce was born in Merida Yucatan in 1933, he was maybe the first abstract artist from the Yucatan.
Since he was 11 his family moved to Mexico city and later he studied architecture in Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico UNAM, as well as he was attending Enrique Climent workshop.
Garcia Ponce became a full time artist in 1957, and participated in many exhibitions until his dead when he was 54, (1987).
